Great Start Cohort
Cadet membership in CAP is available to all young men and women who meet the eligibility requirements. Cadets who become members before their 19th birthday may retain their cadet status until they reach 21 years of age; however, active senior membership is optional for all cadets at age 18.
Our goal is to develop cadet members into responsible citizens who become future aerospace leaders. We follow a military model that emphasizes Air Force traditions and values. What sets us apart from other youth programs is that our cadets can also participate in our real-world missions.
All new members who join the Fort Worth Composite Squadron, or those who transfer in at the rank of cadet airman basic, will be required to undergo a four week Great Start program. The Cadet Great Start is a comprehensive introduction to CAP for new cadets. It transforms a cohort of ordinary youth into cadet airmen in 4 short weeks, while giving cadet NCOs and officers opportunities to apply their leadership skills. Parents are welcome to participate in the Great Start program alongside their cadet to get a greater understanding of the program.
Cohorts happen every four months. If you are interested in joining a Great Start Cohort, please contact the unit commander to begin the process.
Each graduating class will be featured here and on our social media page for recognition along with their class number.
